How To Start SAP ASE Backup Server Manually

In this article, we will discuss how to start SAP ASE Backup server without impacting current SAP ASE (Adaptive server engine) processes running.

Run the following file from operating system:

For windows environment:

Run the file %SYBASE%\%SYBASE_ASE%\install\RUN_<SID>_BS.bat with Admin account user.

In our case, we will use run this file as a administrator

Or just start the service SAPSQL_<SID>_BS service from services msc.

To Start Backup server on Linux systems,
Run command $SYBASE/$SYBASE_ASE/install/RUN_<SID>_BS &

$SYBASE/$SYBASE_ASE/install/RUN_DEV_BS &

i.e same path:

\sybase\DEV\ASE-16_0\install\RUN_DEV_BS &
